The Binding Cartographer
A Crafting Progression LitRPG
Two years and four months ago, Wren Calder submitted a survey of the Spinemoor coast. The fishing village of Tide-End ended up on a sand bar instead of the rocky cliff the previous map had given it. The Royal Survey Guild revoked her license, blacklisted her, and waited. The Guild was right. Maps don't describe the world — not the ones with enough Survey-truth in them. They bind it. The Guild's eighteen-month review cycle, three-reviewer signoff, and royal seal exist to make sure no map ever holds enough truth to do what Wren's Spinemoor survey did. Eleven days until the rent lapses on her aunt's failing cartography shop on Ink Lane. A hooded client at the door commissions a map of Calderwood — a place that exists on no Guild registry — and pays her in coins minted by Sothring, a kingdom that fell two hundred years ago.
